The scent of jasmine snags my attention;
incense burning nearby.
Soft fur drapes across the bare skin of my thigh
At the window, a flash of crimson
as a cardinal wings silently by.
A brilliant contrast to the slate gray sky
Outside the flash of fireflies begins
a timeless dance of romance.
A single cricket sings as dusk creeps in
Soon the stars will rise, the moon will shine
Another time arrives.
The night brings with it its own unknowns
But for now, the magical between time,
anything can happen.
Revelations, epiphanies and transitions
I am swamped by emotion so strong
it takes my breath away.
Painful and joyous, all at once
This single moment, this single heartbeat
this single breath I take.
In this particular Now, I know, All is well
Kindness pays, no matter what they say
It creates its own reward.
The perfection of this moment speaks to me
Love is mine.
