“Numb…”

The cold exists…

It seeps into every pore

Sinks into every bone

Marrow hardening within

A shell forming

Deep inside

this body of mine…

But what purpose can such a shell serve?

When hidden within

Except to numb the nerves?

And block the flow?

Without revealing anything

Of consequence…

Ice floes in my veins

Blue-tinged

Sadness touches me and sloes my blood

Lazily urging

Apathy…

The cold comes…

Restricting me.

Body and soul

Now numb…

Bring forth the Sun!

And let me waken

From this dream of non-feeling…

I welcome the pain today.

Let it come!

And shatter this frozen moment

With icy shards of awareness…

The promise of Life

And Love

Reborn…

Is warm!
