“Lead On…”

from my Pilgrimage, August 2015

Today I feel like a horse on a lead

a fish on a line

a dog on a leash…

Being led from one place to the next

one post to another

one step beyond…

Where I have been before.

All around me I notice…

Things…

I ought to be doing.

People…

I ought to be contacting.

Tasks…

I ought to be accomplishing.

And yet…

I don’t.

And I cannot help but wonder why?

I could choose to wear blinders today,

to ignore that sense of “failure,”

to focus on my goal,

whatever it might be.

But I don’t.

And I cannot help but wonder why?

I want to embrace it All, I guess

even if I can’t engage

for I am being led

to something else instead.

I wonder if this journey will lead

somewhere valuable to Me?

I wonder if it will be worth

the sacrifices asked of me?

But I know…

That though I know not where this goes

it leads somewhere.

And that somewhere, along this road

an answer waits for me.

So I choose to travel on

step by dragging step

turning my heart forward

while my eyes embrace the rest.

Lead on…

Lead on, my friend.

I am with you

until the end.

  1. Love this!

I’ve found myself in this dilemma often. Especially when I have other things to do but can’t seem to pull myself from the blog feed. I don’t even watch TV anymore, haven’t in years, but see more of a reason not to now. All these thoughts from people all over the world that I can filter/control to suit my own pace. Wait a minute, this IS my version of TV, for I AM staring at this smartphone screen Quite A LOT. 😀

  2. Ah, the sweet feeling of total surrender. Using your image as a guide, a gentle, peaceful walk through a quiet path of a sunny midsummer midday accompanied by the gently rustling deciduous woodland and … more thoughts of hope-filled surrender.

    • Beautiful Sha’Tara…! I felt absolute peace settle over my soul as I read these words. Surrender… That is the Word I have been searching for! I knew I knew it, but it would not show itself today. Bless you for bringing it to me! 🙂
