Inky shadows slither near
revealing jade green eyes
graceful movement
sinuous
pure Silence for the ears…
Fur so soft and sensual
it takes my breath away
calming, soothing…
every stroke relieving me
of pain and stress today.
Heart to heart you purr for me
vibration stirring every cell
no words are necessary
or wanted now
as closeness expresses itself.
So different we are my faithful friend
such an uncommon connection we share
different species even
truly bonded
yet Love still makes us One…
I always think, as a man who has owned a decent number of different animals that species to species connections are one of the most valuable experiences we can discover. How well you explore that here.

They are amazing, aren’t they? Sometimes I just look at him lying near me and think how lucky I am, knowing he is not collared, tethered or caged, yet he still chooses to be with me… Of course, he is no doubt spoiled with regular feedings and a warm, dry place to live, but I prefer to think it has more to do with the company. Lol!
Good to see you here, Peter. Hope all is well with you. 🙂

I have a dog. ; ) Dogs do not like poetry. Even very good poetry. ; )

Interesting… Although I understand most dogs like music (I know ours do), so you can be sure you’ll always have a loyal dance partner, right? Just sayin’… lol!
Thanks for stopping by, William! 🙂

I like cats – they’re so honest with their moods. I also like their physical flexibility when they’re relaxed. Lovely poem, Lisa.

Ahh, kittens… That’s a whole different poem, I think. One involving lightness and laughter, and the smiles that never leave your face (even now, just thinking of them, I have a huge grin on my face!)… And having two?! That’s pure Joy wrapped in a couple furry blankies!… lol!
Thanks for the sweet picture you’ve brought to mind… 🙂

Smiling. They are exactly all of those things you mention. And one is a Maine Coon which is one of the furriest types of cats. There are days we just sit and watch them for entertainment.

I love Maine Coons! My dear one, Pikachu, died last year, but I was just thinking of him yesterday. He was so warm and cuddly as he got older, a natural healer, and gentle and loyal always. One of the kindest animals I ever met!
And you are lucky to have one as a kitten! (You do realize that Maine Coons don’t fully “mature” until they are about 5 years old, right? – lol!) Prolonged kittenhood! Yay! 🙂

Prolonged childhood. lol Wait until I tell Allie. Fluffy is so playful. I’ve had cats before, but never one like her. She is so affectionate. She will appear in the blog one day. Have a great day.
