“A Simple Observation…”

There is still beauty in the world today:

In the heart of the flames which engulf us…

In the depth of the shadow that envelops us…

In the charred remains of battle scenes…

In the deep blackness of hatred churning within us.

But there is another color in the palette before me

which contrasts vividly with such velvety darkness.

Even more viscerally than

the white light of Purity,

or the gold light of Love,

or even the green light of Growth.

That color is red…

Red is the rage that stokes the flames…

The call to movement and action…

The dying remembrance of those fallen in battle (both innocent and not)…

The fuel that feeds the hate.

And red is also a reminder to me

that regardless of race…

nationality…

religious belief (or lack thereof)…

sexual orientation…

gender identification…

level of involvement (or lack thereof)…

income, home, or not…

or deeply held conviction…

In the end,

we all bleed

the same.

I take comfort in that…
