A want is an awareness of what is lacking, but preferred, whereas a desire is that want fueled by deep emotion…
Is it therefore safe to say that a want is an empty glass waiting to be filled, while a desire is a glass overflowing, and needing to be emptied?

Profound. Love these thoughts.

I don’t know about “profound”, but I’m glad you like them… lol!

Interesting observation. So, a balanced life is the half-full, half-empty glass? 🙂

I believe so. But then, you were the one who told me that the glass is both half empty and half full at the same time, depending upon whether you are filling it or drinking it. That really stuck with me…
This thought arose out of some personal speculation about motivation. Certainly, it’s not a finished thought path, but it’s where I had to leave it to go to work… lol

That’s an interesting question.
I wonder if a desire is a wish to have the glass there is the first place?

Well, now… hmm…
Such a Roger-like thing to say, that is, completely upending my analogy and sending me off in a totally new direction… lol!
I will have to ponder on this, dear friend… 🙂

Very good question, and it stands to reason. Good to see you back, how are you, Lisa?

I’m doing reasonably well, Kami, considering. And I am very glad to be back online and here with my WordPress friends! Also glad to hear your recent medical crisis turned out ok…
Love you, and looking forward to catching up! Hugs…

Love you too! I’m still laid up, have to wait to get to the specialist and keeping my fingers crossed no complications arise in the meantime, since they are possible. And maybe it will just spontaneously resolve! Oh, the things some of us go through.

Indeed… always a challenge, but the triumphs give us motivation to carry on, don’t they?
Gentle hugs for you, dear Kami… 🙂

I’d say that desire is still an empty glass, its just that it’s threatening to explode if it stays that way…..

Interesting…
I must ponder this a bit, as I cannot at first grasp what pressures might cause an empty glass to explode.
Unless it has something to do with a vacuum created by greatest need drawing in emptiness (unfulfillment), which might cause the glass to IMplode for want of what is missing…
Intriguing development of the metaphor, my friend. Thank you! 🙂
